UAL Greek Theater Acting unit 1-4
Medea Blogs
Medea x Ual Acting
As well as being introduced to Greek tragedy Oedipus we were introduced to a play called Meada. Meada is centered on a wife's calculated desire for revenge against her unfaithful husband. She finds her position in the Greek world threatened as Jason leaves her for a Greek princess of Corinth. Medea takes vengeance on Jason her husband by murdering Jason's new wife as well as her own children, after which she escapes to Athens to start a new life.d as a nuanced and sympathetic portrayal of Medea's struggle to take charge of her own life in a male-dominated world.

Session 1
The class was split into groups and given a paragraph each.some where that same some where different. My group was give piece to rehearse and act out to the audience. A group decision was made to give each member a line or two to act out and at the end we will have a clash of that leaded into an argument. We wanted to convey a range of emotions such as suspense, disgust, fear, malicious talk and and assumption.
Secondly putting the words into action. In order for us to convey the five emotions that we seeing our line we i suggested working with levels so that our voice is projecting from different areas.Even stepping to the shoes of a woman who has been through so such pain and judgement.
Session 2
In the second session we were able to perform our pieces and receive some feedback. In this session we gave levels projection and great use of spaces so that our pieces attracts the audience.
+positive feedback
-Added own soundscape at the end
-Used stage a lot
-Personalized the characters
My group also received some constructive criticism:
-Slow down so that the words come out more (Diction or Articulation)
-Eye contact.
I this lesson I was able to learn that levels are important when it comes to the appearance makes the performance more natural. Give the character innovation e.g Stanstiki Super Objective. Lastly have stage awareness.
