Broken Heart Youth x UAL Level 3
Broken Heart Theatre Company x UAL Acting
the first session to me by surprise not because of what we were learning but the first thing we had to do when we got into the class room. Shocker is that we had to remove both shoes and sock and my phobia is feet even though i have a pretty good pair myself I don't like them. PERIODT. But I then realised if I want to make it to the top I needed to put that to the side and focus on giving a good impression. As per usual we started with a couple of warm up exercises to energise our bodies. We then moved onto some pair to pair work were we had to us our partners to physical embody anyone that are a part of our life.I choose Chloe Hawthorn to be my partner and i physically embodied her to be mt dad, I choose my dad because he only has one facial expression and that the confused and angry forever look😕😠just like this.It was hard because he is the best at making that face.I embodied Chloe's mum who is a writer so that was pretty easy and simple to do. The point in this exercise is to to let your body language speak to the audience with out speech, getting into character. the last exercise we did was a written exercise where we wrote a monologue about anything we wanted not too long and not too short just write. All i could think about we the time i was chases by a 25inch K-9 down 6 flights of stairs sad times. We were give approximately 4-5 minutes to have something written down i was getting ready to share mine with the class when we where instructed to swap with someone else. this exercise taught us to be able to share your story and see someone else as you other then yourself act as some you see is not a character but a real person. Techy I know.
Here in this blog I will be writing about our third collaboration program of the year. Broken Heart Youth Company. this company specialises in bring forth an emotion to be almost real and not made up like its meant to be easy to show emotion when acting. they will be teaching us theatrical etiquette is really about. Most important how to be brutally real as an actor.
Session 1
session 2
session 2 was all about the deeper acting how to make acting look real like it was never meant fake in the first place. When you are a professional actor your emotions must come from deep with meaning being brutally honest. In this session was all about coming out of your comfort zone saying what you see and realise from your partner.Say what you see and agree. trust me i was confused the moment it started and i was still confused when it ended. for me it was hard not to fake or not to action it physically. I was only able to voice record the lesson here are some sectors.
session 2\3
In theses two session we were partnered up and challenged to make scene that didn't have your regular boring characters. like think out side of the box. There was no mothers, fathers, kids or besties. So me and my partner Chloe decide to do a patient in the psychiatric ward who is seen to be conversating to himself but he is coversating to his bestfriend who has his back turn against his. we wanted scene to be weird and mind blowing. so we though of how much people in that ward wanted out but we made our characters bestfriend want to never be normal because it wouldn't be fun. We wanted the scene to correspond to the exercise before but in our ways.We then had the instruction to type up our scenes and email them to our instructers.
