Macbeth x UAL Level 3

Shakespeare X Macbeth

Shakespeare.jpgIn this new year we will be discussing Shakespeare and his famous play Macbeth. Yes I already know the play that is basically rinsed out every year in our secondary school lives. The first thing that comes to my mind when speaking about Shakespeare was is he really a man or a woman?(Dun DUN DUNNNN suspense) but learning about Shakespeare surpassed whether he was a man or a woman but about his stories, metaphors and different language barriers.I mean this guy is the big kahuna  he has a whole eire named after him now that a dream.
Many people believe William Shakespeare is the best British writer of all time. his many works are about life, love, death, revenge, grief ,jealousy ,murder ,magic and mystery. He had wrote the blockbuster plays of his days(literally), some of his plays were Macbeth,Romeo and Juliet and even Hamlet. Its been a very long time since he died we are talking 400 years. but you know what people still celebrate him now he has permanently become the English school syllabus.

Who is William Shakespeare ?

What do we know about William?

Mr Shakespeare was born in Stratford-Upon-Avon,England in 1564. Come to think of it William didn't live that far away from me its like a 2 hrs away on public transport. the funny thing is that no one actually know what day he was born the closes we get is that he was baptised on the 26th of April 1564. It could be his birthday and we will never know.
In 1582 Shakespeare at the age of 18 went on to marry his wife Anne Hathway and had three kids. Shakespeare wasted no time there. I mean I'm 18 now and still scared to go too high on the swings and committing to commitments let alone marriage and kids. William then went to live in London for 25 years write most of his plays. Then sadly in 1616 age 52 years of age Sir William Shakespeare died in his home town.

William the writer
William wrote 37 plays and with that he had strategy by splitting them in three different plays:
Histories- about the lives kings and famous figures from history
Comedies-which end in marriage
Tragedies-Which end in death of the main character

To add onto his collection he also made poetry in 1609 the man managed to publish a book of 154 sonnets. What can I say he is beyond talented as well as me.

Shakespeare the actor
As well as writing plays Shakespeare performed on stage with a group actors called the Lord Chamberlain company.the group preformed in two theatres near the banks of the River Thames in London-the Globe and Blackffiars. Of course he was claiming his share to of half theatres.

What is the tragedy of Macbeth by William Shakespeare about ?
At the beginning of the play, Macbeth is a brave and loyal Thane to King Duncan. After hearing a prophecy that he will become king himself, Macbeth is overcome by ambition and greed. Bolstered by the prophecy and his wife’s encouragement, he kills King Duncan and takes the throne. Afterwards, Macbeth’s guilt, fear, and paranoia lead him to commit even more murders to secure his power. His confidence in the prophecies eventually leads to his downfall and he is overthrown and killed by those he has wronged.

Shakespeare why did you make Macbeth?

It was written specifically to please King James, who had just come to the throne. Essentially, Macbeth is probably the last word in high-class job applications. And it was successful: on 19 May 1603, Shakespeare’s company, which had been the Lord Chamberlain’s Men officially became the King’s Men.
There are several pieces of evidence that the play was written specifically to flatter James:
  • Most obviously, the heroes are his ancestors. And the parade of Kings (Act IV) is designed to imply the greatness and permanence of the Stuart line.
  • The villains are witches. James believed strongly in the perils of witchcraft, and even wrote a book about it.
  • It is the shortest Shakespeare play, which suggests it was written under significant time pressure. It is likely, but unprovable, that Shakespeare was working to be the first to present James with a play specifically in his honour.
What a kiss up.

Conclusion
Told it was more of whether he was a man or a woman. William Shakespeare changed the game so mush that such had an incredible influence on the English language and invented hundreds of words we still use today all 1700 of them and my favourite "bedroom" because that definitely the place to be. but to conclude my Macbeth intro to my blog i just want to say that I'm going to  have to take real time and precision to work on characterisation in this play because with my Shakespeare roles, I want to truly embody the characters the way Shakespeare would and prove to prove to myself that I will succeeded massively.
